The Green Tea Experiment Results
It’s been almost two weeks since I started drinking Green Tea in an effort to test the theory that Green Tea improves memory while making the mind sharper and clearer. The challenge was for a week but I’ve been on vacation so I just drug it out to two weeks. Everyday I’ve had at least one 16oz Diet Lipton Green Tea. I’ve also cut out most other drinks, sodas mostly and I limit myself to two cups of bug juice (coffee) in the morning.
I can say that the Green Tea has done nothing for my residual sleepiness or afternoon sleepiness and it hasn’t really made me feel any better. It might have made things sharper but this week especially it’s not doing much for that since I’m without my TAP3 Oral Appliance.
My purely scientific conclusion: Green Tea might help your memory and improve clarity of thought. I can’t honestly say it doesn’t but then I can’t say it does either. Really, I can’t tell much of a change, however, the health value is probably worth more in the long run anyway. Plus, it’s not half bad.

When I was in Thailand, at a tea ceremony (drink tea in small cups for hours) they said that Lipton is about the worst there is. Like how McDonalds uses the mechanically removed scrap meat, that’s how Lipton apparently uses the brushed together scraps of tea leaves.
Perhaps an interesting follow-up experience would be to get “real” green tea, as in non-bagged leaves of a high grade quality, and see whether that does make a difference. Tastest better most likely anyway!

I was considering that very thing. I sort of figured the whole “bottled” green tea business wouldn’t be near as good for you, so I’ll probably give your suggestion a try.
